National Ski Patrol members are part of their own patrol community and connected to a national family of more than 30,000 members with a long history of service and excellence. They serve their communities in both paid and volunteer capacities, both having been trained in NSP's gold-standard first response medical training called Outdoor Emergency Care & Outdoor First Care.

Requirements to become a Patroller Candidate include: payment of your annual membership dues; successful completion of: the Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) course (annual refreshers are required); the ICS-100 course; and an annual professional-rescuer level CPR certification. You must also complete any other mandatory training required by the local Patrol or area.

Requirements to become a Host Candidate include: payment of your annual membership dues; successful completion of an Outdoor First Care (OFC) course (refreshers are required every 2 years); plus, any other training required by the local Host Unit or area.

Start your journey by first contacting a local Patrol or Host Unit. Once you have spoken to the Patrol/Unit Rep/Director of your chosen Patrol/Host Unit, you can create an NSP account.
*Note* Creating an account is free, but you must pay your membership dues to become an official member of NSP.

If you have contacted the Patrol/Host Unit to confirm they have available space, created an account with NSP, and your Patrol/Unit Rep/Director has verified you have been added to the Patrol/Host Unit's roster, you can pay your dues.
Upon payment of your annual membership dues you will gain access to NSP's member benefits including: the Center for Learning and its library of courses, Pro Deals, NSP's Online Store, and more.
