MEMBER TYPES

Patroller Candidate

A Patroller Candidate is a member of a Patrol who intends to take Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and become a Patroller. Once a Patroller Candidate has passed the OEC course, and met all other requirements, they will be classified as a Patroller.
Physician Partner

A Physician Partner is a member of NSP in a medical advisory role on a Patrol. They must hold a D.O. or M.D. They are not required to take OEC. Physician Partners must meet the same requirements as a Patroller Candidate if they want to operate as a Patroller.
Host

A Host is a member of a Host Unit who intends to take Outdoor First Care (OFC) and serve as a Host. They are required to pass the OFC course, and any other requirements of their specific Host Unit.
Associate

An Associate wants to take Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) or other NSP courses but does not intend to serve as a Patroller or Host. They are often students at an officially registered NSP Affiliate organization. Associates must meet the same requirements as a Patroller Candidate if they want to operate as a Patroller.
Alumni

Alumni membership is available for any member who has been registered as a Patroller (above Candidate) for at least a year, but who needs to take time away. Alumni members are not required to keep up their OEC certifications. This is a great way to stay connected with NSP, fellow members and keep continuous years of membership intact.
