Young Adult Patrollers

NSP’s Young Adult Patroller (YAP) Program provides an educational structure and supportive atmosphere for young adults (ages 15 – 17) interested in ski patrolling. The YAP Program helps these young adults develop and enriches their lives, as they make the transition from teenagers to adulthood, by learning skills around snow sports safety and injury prevention, emergency care and response in the outdoors environment, skiing and snowboarding, physical fitness, leadership, and ski patrolling. Through outstanding training programs, the YAP Program provides a foundation to develop the future leaders of NSP.

Young adult patrollers must maintain the same training and responsibilities and develop the same skill set as all other members of the patrol. The NSP YAP Program is not a labor program. Each local YAP Program operates in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and school district policies and procedures relating to youths volunteering their time to participate in ski patrolling activities and provide emergency care and response services. YAP Programs also operate within the parameters approved by their ski area, including applicable ski area policies and procedures.
