Member Types:
Patroller - $102.90/$82.32 Annually

A Patroller is a member of a Patrol who has successfully completed and passed the Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certification course and other NSP requirements and demonstrates skills in a manner that meets both the requirements of the NSP and local ones established by area management.

Classifications for Patrollers are Alpine Patroller, Bike Patroller, Nordic/Backcountry Patroller, Young Adult Patroller equivalents, and EMS Patroller (Professional Division only).

Patroller Candidate - $102.90 Annually

A Patroller Candidate is a member of a Patrol who intends to take Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and become a Patroller. Once a Patroller Candidate has passed the OEC course, and met all other requirements, they will be classified as a Patroller. 

Young Adult Patroller Candidate - $102.90 Annually

Students aged 15 to 17 (including those who will turn 15 by the end of the current year) can participate in an established Young Adult Patroller Program where they can become an Outdoor Emergency Care Technician. Physician Partner - $102.90 Annually

A Physician Partner is a member of NSP in a medical advisory role on a Patrol. They must hold a D.O. or M.D. They are not required to take OEC. Physician Partners must meet the same requirements as a Patroller Candidate if they want to operate as a Patroller. 
Host - $102.90 Annually

A Host is a member of a Host Unit who intends to take Outdoor First Care (OFC) and serve as a Host. They are required to pass the OFC course, and any other requirements of their specific Host Unit.
Associate - $102.90 Annually

An Associate wants to take Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) or other NSP courses but does not intend to serve as a Patroller or Host. They are often students at an officially registered NSP Affiliate organization. Associates must meet the same requirements as a Patroller Candidate if they want to operate as a Patroller.   
Alumni - $61.74 Annually

Life Changes. Your NSP Ties Don’t Have To. Stay Connected as an Alumni Member.
Alumni membership is for anyone who needs to retire or take a break from active patrolling for any reason. It is available for members who have paid membership dues as a Patroller (excluding Candidate year) or Physician Partner for at least a year. While OEC certification is not required as an Alumni member, keeping it current is recommended if you plan to return to active duty in the future.
