Howard Wyandt

Wyandt joined NSP in 1970 and received National Appointment Number 6584 in 1986. He served the Elk Mountain Ski Patrol, the Eastern Pennsylvania Region, and the Eastern Division in many capacities. A former assistant patrol director, patrol director, section chief, and assistant region director, his major contributions have come as a member of the Eastern Division OEC Steering Committee and the Senior OEC Program. He is recognized for several innovations, including morning practice problems to give candidates time to get rid of the butterflies, the introduction of the advocate role, and making the Senior Winter Emergency Care/Outdoor Emergency Care training oriented with the evaluation and just another step in the continuing upgrade of OEC skills.

Howard was recognized twice as the Eastern Division Outstanding Patrol Representative, once as the Eastern Division Outstanding Administrator, and once with a Silver Merit Star as the NSP National Outstanding Administrative Patroller runner-up.
