NSP BOARD APPROVES NEW MEMBERSHIP PATH FOR EMT, A-EMT, AND PARAMEDIC (05-17-18)
On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, the NSP board of directors passed language (see below) that will allow a current EMT, advanced EMT, or paramedic to receive an OEC technician card. The OEC Modified Challenge course is offered through patrols so interested people with these certifications should contact the Patrol Representative or Patrol Director to determine course availability. Patrol Representative and Patrol Director contact information is found on the NSP website under About Us, then Who's Who, then Divisions and Patrols.
- A current patroller or new candidate who is also a current EMT, advanced EMT, or paramedic may receive an OEC technician card by passing the OEC Modified Challenge course, which is comprised of the practical portion of the OEC exam. This course is now available to be registered by certified OEC instructors. The course fee is $30 through December 31, 2019, and subject to change after that date.
As a reminder, all OEC technicians, including those who are also EMTs or paramedics, must complete each required refresher course to maintain a current OEC technician card.
