Your Responsibility Codes

Always stay in control and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
People ahead of you have the right of way.  It is your responsibility to avoid them.
You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
Observe all posted signs and warnings.  Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

Skill Level Definitions

1 First time on skis.  Walking, straight gliding, gliding wedge, intro to wedge turn.
2 Skis in cautious wedge stance on easiest terrain.  Can link basic wedge turns.
3 Skis with solid wedge, turns on easier green trails.  Intro to wedge-christie turn.
4 Skis on all green trails confidently with wedge-christie turns by starting the turn with a wedge and matches in the fall line.
5 Skis wedge-christie turns on easier blue runs using a wedge or step to enter the turn, then matching the skis in a wide stance.  Intro to parallel turns.
6 Skis beginning parallel turns on green and advanced wedge-christie turns on blue terrain.  Parallel turns with simultaneous edge change on green and blue terrain.  Intro to bumps and easy black terrain.
7 Skis in a comfortable open-stance parallel (stanch about hip-width) on all blue and less challenging, groomed, black terrain.  Also skis in very easy blue bumps, maintaining rhythm and speed control.  Intro to dynamic parallel turns.
8 Skis short and long dynamic-parallel turns on green, blue, and easier black terrain, while skiing more open-stance parallel turns on harder and double black slopes.  Can ski in the fall line in blue and less-challenging black bumps with few stops and good speed control but hesitates in steep bumps.  Skis with confidence in light powder but still has trouble in heavy, wet, or crusted snow.
9 Skis proficient in all kinds of skiing at dynamic speeds.  Explores improvement of dynamic skiing in all environments, refines timing, intensity, and variety of tactics, strengthening of weaker skills.
